People often wonder if using a personal trainer can help you lose weight. As a personal trainer myself, I can honestly say “absolutely yes!” It’s important to know how to workout safely and how to do exercises with the proper technique. A personal trainer will guide you and navigate you towards your goals. Often at times you will feel unmotivated to train or fall of the wagon by eating poorly or not doing your exercise. A personal trainer’s job is to get you back on track and prevent you from quitting completely. Many people go to the gym and do the same old machines and exercises. It’s important to mix up you exercise regime to get the best possible workout every time. A personal trainer will acknowledge this and keep your exercise routine fresh and energising so you get the maximum results in the shortest amount of time. They will also hold you accountable to you exercise sessions and your goals. People are much more likely to accomplish their exercise if someone is either doing it with them or tracking their progress. Often you and your trainer will have come up with and exercise plan that you both will tick off, and together will help you incorporate exercise in your daily routine. A personal trainer will also give the client a diet plan with diet tips. As we all know, what you eat has a big influence on whether you lose weight or not. A qualified personal trainer will teach you how to incorporate healthy eating into your routine.
A personal trainer will teach you the “correct” way to train and eat. Many people try fancy machines, abs gimmicks and dangerous diet that don’t work. A trainer will teach you what truly is effective and what is not. It’s about training smarter not harder. Over time the trainer will teach you more about your body and how it works, the more you understand about how exercise is beneficial the more likely you are to adhere to your exercise program. Experienced personal trainer’s can help you with rehabilitation of any injured or weak areas. It’s important to focus on your weaknesses to increase strength and prevent injuries. By improving posture, core strength and any obvious weaknesses, you will prevent getting injured and be able to do more advanced exercises that progress you even more. As you get fitter and stronger you will look better and be able to do exercises that burn more calories and increase your muscle mass. And lastly, the personal trainer will be specific to your needs and not give you a generic program. They will construct a program that works for you, everybody is different and it’s important to do a routine that is specific and geared towards your goals not someone else’s.
In this article I am highlighting a new full body workout designed to get you a great workout in less than 20 minutes. It’s called the 100’s routine and involves doing 4 or 5 different exercises counting down from 100.
The 100’s routine:
100 Star Jumps
90 Crunches
80 Squats
70 Lunges
60 Star Jumps
50 Crunches
40 Squats
30 Lunges
20 Star Jumps
10 Minutes of Running
The greatest benefit is that you don’t need any equipment and you don’t have to go to the gym. It’s a good combination of high intensity cardio and muscular endurance. For beginners I recommend starting with 50 crunches and then working your way down to zero. As you progress then add the 60 star jumps and 70 lunges until you work your way up to 100 star jumps.
